1666: Amsterdam Witchcraft Guide
How Noa's witchcraft, investigation tools, and night hunts fit together in 1666: Amsterdam.
Witchcraft is a toolkit
Noa's magic is designed to make the city legible. During the day, use abilities to expose clues, activate strange objects, and open the next layer of an investigation. At night, those same ideas become combat decisions: timing, positioning, and the order in which you use a spell matter as much as raw damage.
Lux and Nux
The game separates environmental power from the rarer force used in combat. Lux helps you read and alter the world. Nux is tied to the dangerous power of the Originals and gives the night hunt its sharper edge. Learning when to conserve one resource and spend the other is the foundation of a clean run.
| Tool | Use | Early habit |
|---|---|---|
| Lux | Environmental interactions and investigation | Scan every new room before moving on |
| Nux | Combat magic and supernatural pressure | Keep a reserve for the Esbat's final phase |
| Life Echoes | Clues from the city's hidden history | Follow the visual trail instead of rushing objectives |
| Aaron | Familiar traversal and social access | Switch perspective when Noa's route stalls |
The Esbat loop
Original hunts take place under the full moon. Identify the target, mark the route, and approach the confrontation with a plan. If Noa falls, the night resets and temporary gains can be lost; success lets you carry the hunt's rewards forward.
Investigation checklist
- Read the environment before committing to a target.
- Use Aaron to test small spaces, doors, and social routes.
- Look for objects that can be enchanted or used as part of a spell chain.
- Save your strongest combat options for the final encounter rather than the first patrol.
